All for Paxon....
On Friday, Cowart Elementary had a wonderful dedication assembly to remember Paxon. Mrs. Poole, the principal, did a fabulous job. She helped the children, teachers, family and friends remember the things that Paxon truly enjoyed. The school did a penny drive called Pennies for Paxon. The money that is raised from that will buy books for the library at Cowart. They also collected pop tops from coke cans. They collected enough to fill 6 gallon milk jugs. One milk jug full of tops will pay for dialyzes for 1 child in Nashville.
There were several people that talked about Paxon. Bayley Kornermann spoke about his best friend and how he will always remember his sweet smile. What a strong child to express his feelings among his family and friends. A teacher spoke of the 5reasons why Paxon loved Cowart, every word was the truth!
A local banker donated a Philip Rivers jersey for the school to either display or auction off to use the money as need in Paxon's memory. I hear that Philip will be in Alabama to rehab after his knee surgery and is going to sign the jersey. How cool is that?
A local contractor built a pavilion for the kids to use on the playground. They dedicated the pavilion to the school in memory of Paxon. I was so amazed at how many lives an 8 year old child can touch. One bad thing happens to a child and his family and the Cowart community pulls together to keep his spirit alive. It was truly heartwarming.
At the end of the assembly, we all received a red balloon. We went out to the front of the school and had a one minute of silence to remember a happy time with Paxon. Then we released the balloons. I was speechless.
I look forward to Whitt and Hudson joining the Cowart family!
